why we started

In 2022, Our goal was to transform government schools by painting vibrant murals on the walls of classrooms.

Tired of seeing the same distorted figures of Dora and Doraemon, we set out to abolish them and create aesthetic spaces with themes surrounding professionals in mind.

We envisioned these colorful spaces sparking joy in students and fostering a love of learning. BUT- we faced a financial hurdle when we set out to paint government schools. The idea of asking for donations did not work out with the rampant competition with already existing organisations that call for volunteers.

And that- is where we realized that simply asking for volunteers wouldn't be enough. Instead, we devised the initiative: “Wall as the Canvas”.  This program started by teaching people how to create beautiful wall murals, instead of just handing them a brush and asking them to paint inside the line.

Our first Wall as your Canvas school was the Higher Primary School of Indiranagar, where we painted a massive 14foot long space man in the wall overlooking the entire campus. We trained 15 wonderful people that day, and continued to fund our revamp initiatives through our participants!

Ober the last year, we've completed over a 100 walls and trained over a whooping 1400 people! Wall as your Canvas is not just any other Workshop where you can come paint and leave with a tiny Canvas. You leave an impression on every on looker who will pass by your wall. In a city like Bangalore, WAYC procured the perfect melting pot for people from various backgrounds to come mingle.

Government Schools soon turned intopainting walls in cafes, iconic city hotspots, and for our own private commissions. Eventually, the program expanded to include events with corporate sponsors, employee Engagement programmes as well as CSR activites.

But at the heart of “Wall as the Canvas”, the mission to create a creative environment for every bystander  is where we thrive.
